The Extinct "Glades" of the Cumberland Plateau

One of the rarest wet grassland types in the Southeast -- Cumberland Plateau acidic wet meadow. Extant, high-quality examples are extremely rare and possibly non-existent.

Southeastern “interior” grasslands are found throughout eight major ecoregions in 18 states of the southeastern U.S. (see map). This includes much of the recently designated Coastal Plain Global Biodiversity Hotspot.
