jon Casado, Central Appalachian Grasslands Coordinator and Ecologist

Jon is working for SGI as our Central Appalachian Grasslands Coordinator and Ecologist based in Roanoke, VA. Jon’s role focuses on restoration of grasslands in public lands across the Eastern U.S. Jon is originally from Florida, but left to do conservation and ecological restoration work across the Appalachian mountains & piedmont. While on a seed collection project--using his hand lens and ruler to inspect & study the minute and fascinating structures of different forbs & grasses -- he became irrevocably intrigued and invested in botany. Jon is excited to contribute to grasslands restoration with SGI as he believes this work is among the most paramount campaigns of our time.
